Homestay Parents

Too many options to decide sometimes making me confuse. I have plenty of to-do-list, but one word lazy strike everything off from the list except one – to slack.

At this moment, I am alone thinking/reflecting my life. What is right or wrong sometimes it is hard to know. Sometimes, you are aware of the wrongful act but you still want to step on the shit and make yourself stink. I am quite disappointed of myself for not being consistent in my daily intake. I have broken my promises for 3 times. These actions do not make me feel good as I have already lost the appetite on it since 2 months ago. Need a lil faith and confident on what I am doing

mixed feeling

I am having mixed feeling now. Somehow, it's happy. Somehow, it's sad I could say.

Yesterday night was an awesome night that I would not easily forget. It was the most enjoyable and nicest pub session I had so far. Normally my friends and I go to club for social dancing. But this time, it was a totally new experience for me. I did not smoke nor having alcoholic drink at all despite they had quite a bit of drink. Anyhow, it was totally understandable. What I enjoyed the most was the companion of great people although all of them were westerners and so happened they were guys. I liked to chat with them. We could basically talk about everything from one's culture, lifestyle, background, girls, sex, ambitions, hobbies, etc. It's really easy to catch a topic when everyone of them is so friendly and open minded.

The sad part is one of them is leaving tomorrow. He is like my big brother and taking good care of me throughout his internship period. We always teased each other and he taught me a lot of Aussie stuffs and it was a great opportunity to learn more about Aussie culture at the same time. The house would be quiet without you. Hopefully we could meet again one day in Australia. take care

Taiwan Touch your Heart

Alright, after creating + editing 2 blogs, it’s time for me to play with my own blog. I am relieved to have my things done on time. But the sad part is today I’m suppose to go to Taipei to have fun with friends T.T but I turned them down just because I need to online to finish up my stuffs. Awww. life is such miserable when you need internet connection to complete your tasks but you are not given one. And you ended up doing them during weekends where you are suppose to go somewhere for holiday.

Okay cut the crap. 

 

Week 1

Taiwan Beer. I have only a sip of it and it actually tasted quite good

 

Spotted a pair of “warriors” practicing their Japanese “fencing”. This sport was actually quite rough and all I could hear was the loud screaming voices of “oohs” & “aahs” from them when both of them were trying to poke each other with the "swords”.

 

Milo was wearing Dan’s sunglasses. Cool huh?

It’s a “no-play-play” drink especially if you seen the word “KaoLiang”. Dan drank that when he was sick and ended up having a swollen limp node on his neck.

Week 2

Went to a food & games fair. I bought 2 dresses (2nd-hand) at only 50NT which is equivalent to RM5. I like them much :)

 

I bought a few packets of dried noodles for my parents & sis because there are famous in HsinChu. The texture of instant noodles I bought was freaking thin and yummy to eat with vegetables.

 

 

Sheena brought me to Sogo department store to have a quick make up by her friend before heading to night pub. Hmm…. My first experience of stepping in a pub in Taiwan was pretty cool. Too bad we missed out the pole dancing performance as we thought the pub would have it on Sat. We were invited by 2 uncles for drinks. Besides, Sheena was omg a great dancer. She could dance really well and sexyyyy too. Somehow, I don’t feel really comfortable especially there were uncles and aunties dancing closely around you. An uncle even invited me to dance with him casually. I felt so awkward at that moment, anyhow, i did dance with him for a few seconds. Because for me, all of these are a great opportunity to experience. It doesn’t have to be fancy and perfect. It’s difference I could say!

 

I went to a high-class dental clinic to work for a day. My duty was suppose to be a pianist. Anyhow, I screwed it up and call it a day because mentally I’m not prepared for it. It doesn’t make sense for me to play right away after not touching piano for almost 2 years.

I was giving a speech about my experience in a club. Guess which society I was talking about? lol

 

Went to watch the performance of 2 famous pianists who were borne in Music Island in China

 

And the following day, went to watch a music concert of a boys’ school

 

The performances were pretty awesome.

 

One fine day, I followed my homestay parent to a zoo where he was the tour guide for those lovely school children.

Overall introduction on what I’m doing now

Hi guys, I am in Taiwan now. My 1st week here is ending soon.  Doing fine here and gonna blog whenever I have the free time and internet connection. Currently, I am having an internship under Aiesec worldwide organisation with a community in Hsin Chu City (新竹市). I would say it is some kind of community work where my tasks are recording everything that I see, I eat, I play and I think about Taiwan from my own perspective. Besides, the most important element about my job is to introduce my home country - Malaysia’s cultures & lifestyles to everyone here and get to know more about Taiwan’s cultures at the same time. I am glad that I have the chance to expose myself to something completely new to me. It widens my horizon and most importantly, I got to know more about myself, my own country and stories about other nations too.

Solely on this first week, my timetable was fully packed with activities. Although it was really tiring by the end of the day, I was happy to learn more things everyday. 學無止境嘛! Currently,  I am staying in an abandon big house alone without internet connection as my home stay rooms are fully occupied. Kinda creepy though especially during the first night. But now, I think I am more brave >< I am looking forward to shift into a Hakka family :) They are so nice. Anyhow, my current home stay parents are very nice to me too. They prepared 3 meals per day and brought us sight visiting around the city ^^ Guess where I am going tonight? =.= okay, cut the crap.

Wanna know how’s my timetable look like?

• I will be teaching English/cultural exchange stuffs at 2 primary & 2 secondary schools. The timetable for some of the schools are not fixed.
• Nursing the wetlands garden every evening
• Having interactive classes with students during after-school-time
• Playing on a grand piano twice a weeks in a luxury hotel-alike DENTAL clinic
• Create an entire new webpage for Dongshan community
• Create another blog solely on my experiences in Taiwan

Suddenly, I feel like I have become a superwoman for being able to do all the stuffs during working days. I was so amazed to know that some of the interns have a more relaxing and flexible working hours & jobs in other areas. Envy max T.T Anyhow, I do accept my job tasks as a challenge and it’s actually a golden opportunity for me to grow and learn how to adapt especially improve on my EQ :)

Plus, I can’t wait to go travelling with all my Taiwanese buddies & Msian friends who are coming over soon ^^

What do you reckon this place is? It is a big hall of a secondary military school where the band get to practice their songs

 

This is the map of the housing area of Hsin Chu. It called 八卦圖. Could you see the shape of a spider web? does it look like what we watch in the ancient war movie?

Hsin Chu city  is famous of its MIHUN (a kind of noodles). According to my Hakka home stay father, he told me that the noodles is famous because the dough they made needed strong wind to let it dry. Hsin Chu city’s wind is always strong and windy. That’s why it helps the noodle to dry quickly and somehow, it has become a unique characteristic of Hsin Chu.

After the group interview, here comes individual interview. Was bombarded with lots of questions from different perspectives. It practiced my impromptu presentation. Not bad huh :D Furthermore, I am happy to share my experiences, education, climbing mountain experiences, Australia + Msia culture, current Taiwan adaptation, etc etc
