Mountain Kinabalu, the peak

Helloooo, have been posting too many wordy posts previously. It’s time for me to blog with more pics.

I would like to continue my KK post. If you missed out the first part of my KK mountain climbing story, do click here to view it.

We slept in a dorm at Laban Rata after having our dinner. Not long after (approx 2am), we got to wake up to continue our journey to the peak of the mountain. Before the hike, I felt uneasy and nausea. But then I knew I have to eat something. Hence, I kinda forcing myself to chew on a bun.

The feeling of dizziness worsening during the first 30 mins. However, I kept forcing myself to go on. Without any warning, I actually vomited at the side of the sloppy mountain. After vomiting, immediately, I felt great. I was so relieved by then.

It was sooooo dark when we were climbing up the mountain. We have no idea where were we and what kind of mountain were we climbing. All we knew was keep going up up up. We climb awhile and rest awhile. Frankly speaking, it was quite tiring to climb this mountain especially for people who didn’t do much training like me. What kept me going the most was my mind. I kept telling myself to go on just because I paid for this hike. If failed to reach the peak, memang memalukan lar. lolzn736758543_1168529_6725

The happiest moment was to able to see the sunrise although it was quite cloudy on the day. Once I took off my gloves, my fingers were numb. Gosh, it was freaking cold out there.

You could see the hat that I was wearing was different from other pics. It was almost Christmas, that’s why I purposely brought the Christmas hat along :) just to snap a pic ><

It was scary to look down the valley. One wrong stepped could end up to death ><n736758543_1168533_8326

We were amazed to see the pathway that we have gone through during the pitch dark morning. It was freaking sloppy. When we were heading back, I felt the time was crawling instead of speeding. Perhaps the clearer we could see the surrounding, the harder to walk.

n736758543_1104159_4713

I met these 2 sweet aborigine girls half way through the mountain. They descended so fast and agile. I reckoned they climbed the mountain frequently. It was just a piece of cake for them ><

After descending from the mountain, we got to wait for another partner of mine for quite a long time before we could head to the town. Anyhow, I had an enjoyable climbing trip in Sabah. Thinking back, I couldn’t really imagine how brave and naive I was to plan this climb impromptu.

Alright, that’s all for now. Enjoy climbing, I reckon it would be more fun if you climb with a group of friends who have a strong will. Having a strong body doesn’t mean you are strong internally. get it? haha.

Mountain Kinabalu, Sabah

OMG, I am slacking for the whole day. But who cares, it’s time for me to blog again. Looking at the Veni Vici Vidi column on my blog’s sidebar which you could see right now is the list of the mountains I have conquered so far with the dates on it. I just realized that I never blog about my experience on climbing Mt Kinabalu, Sabah. So, decided to blog for the sake of remembrance for the future.

Well, when I was almost having my finals of SAM in 2008, I came out with a crazy idea of climbing Mt Kinabalu. Don’t ask me why, the answer would be aiks, it’s complicated to explain :D

Since it’s hard to find kakis to climb together at the very last moment, the easiest way is to search online for kakis. In the end, I knew a woman from the net who was interested to join me at the same time, without thinking twice, JOM d. Here, I would like to thanks heaps to my parents for letting me to go to this trip alone with a total stranger. Their mentally supports is always helpful for me no matter what situation I am in. Plus, so happen one of my friends, ZhiYong, boyfriend of my dear friend, Mei Ying would be there at the same time, I invited him to join us. Here goes our journey.

n736758543_1168492_3010

I met with my climbing partner for the first time @the airport. Once my dad saw her, he was relieved as well. Well, old sayings said, never follow a stranger home. This was true, but the risk that I have taken was worth it at last :)

Firstly, we went to the agent office to finalize everything. Will tell you the contact at the end of my KK post. After that, a driver drove us to the Kinabalu Park which was situated deep in the jungle. It was raining heavily at that time too.

2

This was my temporary accommodation for Day 1. When we were there, it was freaking cold as I was not used to cold weather.

3

Some souvenirs shops that you could find at Kinabalu Park. The area was surrounded with lots of trees and not to forget, the freaking tall Mt Kinabalu that I was going to conquer on the next day. Basically, we walked around the park and it was kinda relaxing though.

n736758543_1168499_5405

Freaking awesome right? so much mist some more

n736758543_1168509_9072

The very next day, I was so not prepared to climb *takut* as basically I have not been training on my stamina. Not at all other than frantically swimming for 2 days at the very last minute. When thinking it now, I totally have no idea why was I so brave and naive few years ago. But, at least, I experience it with no regret for the climbing part :)

n736758543_1104104_6966

n736758543_1168510_9431

We boarded a mini bus up the winding road to the main entrance for the climb. We were welcomed by a freaking amazing sign board. OMG, how could those ppl climb up and down on this mountain for less than 3 hours. This is insane. (2 x 4095m) But it’s the fact.

n736758543_1104106_7544

My partners for the climb and of course, the great guide as well. I guess he has been climbing up and down for dunno how many freaking times. He even helped my friend carried the heavy bag. Other than the guide, while on our way up the hilly slope, we saw lots of women, especially were carrying “look_like_it_was_a_heavy_basket” on their head and climbing up the mountain like nobody’s business. This is truly amazing. I was astonished to see how fast they could walk with the heavy burden on it. *Salute*

n736758543_1168516_1746

It’s true if you have heard ppl saying that climbing Mt Kinabalu is actually climbing up the staircases & easier than climbing Mt Tahan. but this is true only for the first half part.

1

This was the food that we received earlier before the climb ><

Because my other partner, the woman, Sarah couldn’t climb up the hill at our pace, the guide told us to climb up on our own.

n736758543_1168518_2528

Easy? Medium? Hard?

Personally, everything is about your mentality, not much about phsycial capability. Of course you are fit to climb if you choose to climb at the first place. I actually kept telling myself that I could do this. If not, you definitely will give up easily. Trust me!

n736758543_1104113_9653

The air was damp and my hair was full of droplets

n736758543_1104114_9949

I dunno the exact time I reached Laban Rata. Let me recall. hmmm. We started to climb around 8.30a.m. And reached Laban Rata at 3pm something if not mistaken. This means the journey took us approx 7 hours to finish HALF WAY. Anyway, I was delighted because it mean, I can eattttttttttttttt.

n736758543_1104123_2627

The temperature was approx 9.6 celcius plus the never stop blowing strong wind plus the wet clothes I were wearing making myself totally helpless and it was freezing cold

n736758543_1113181_7369

The must do thing is to order a hot chocolate/milo. Yummyyyyyyyyyy.

My other partner reached Laban Rata around 7 something. We were too exhausted and the scary part was, we have to wake up at approx 2.30am the next morning. I hardly doze off because of the scary weather ><

Till here now. have a great day everyone :)

All in ONE. What’s next?

Hi guys, I am officially back in Msia now. Sorry for not letting everyone knows beforehand because I was planning to give surprise to everyone including my parents.

The story is quite long but let me cut it short. I have bought the air tix in June and have roughly planned my holidays before my finals. FML.

My mum kept urging me to go back, but I always made up lame excuses for not coming back. *guilty* One day, she was smart enough to ask me one question. She said “Eh, Australia got flight straight to Taiwan meh?”. I was astonished at that moment. In the end, I told her that there would be a transit flight stop at Msia for a few hours. Immediately, she said “Tell me early mar, we can meet you at the airport and bring some Malaysian food for you.” Once I heard that, I felt really touched. Love you mummy <3

Anyhow, I came back on the 21st of Nov. That’s why you might sense that I was desperate for my RM7k. Why? This was because if I couldn’t find anyone to rent my room, I would need to pay 3 more months’ rental (Bond attached). Thinking that I could lose that much of money for nothing, I was kinda upset lor. Luckily, in the nick of time, there was one local Aussie gentleman wanted to rent my room. Huh… Is that a miracle?

p/s: Once I reached the airport, I boarded the AA bus to KL Central. From there, I took train back to Batang Benar. Damn sienz looking ppl rushing into the train. What’s the use of having the rainbow lanes? lmao. From BB station, one of my friends came to fetch me straight to my house. When I reached my house, my parents were not in yet but my relatives got a shocked when seeing me. Dad & Mum were silence for a moment & couldn’t believe their eyes when seeing me in the house.

Still, I haven’t known where would I be staying next year. Really sorry to Xiao Xiao that I couldn’t help up with house inspection. Just tell me when you need any help =)

Coincidently, my Tzu Ching friend and I were sitting for the same flight, if not I was gonna be alone =(

Tell you something. Air Asia seat was freaking uncomfortable as the seating was almost 90 degree straight WTF. I had to suffer for 8 hours and the consequences were butt pain, neck pain, back pain, legs felt cold, apa pun lai =.= What I could do was just kept tossing my body left and right or else moving my butt up and down. FML

Met up with Cui Lian, Francis and Ah Q at Jusco for Christmas Carol movie. Frankly, I don’t really like that movie. Dunno why I felt scared with this children movie especially at the front part of the story. lolz. PHAILED!

Last Friday (Hari Haji), my parents and I woke up early because we were going to climb Broga Hill @ Broga lor. Dunno since this hill has become so famous whereby I stay sooooo near to Broga never heard and hasn’t been there before.

We started to climb at 7 lidat. So, while we were walking up the hill, the Sun started to rise. Anyhow, the view was really nice =)

Mum has went to Broga Hill once but couldn’t manage to reach to the end of the mountain because she hasn’t had breakfast beforehand. That’s y she was pening kepala and lack of energy last time. This time round, I wanted to make mummy’s dream of getting to the peak to come true. So, I walked behind her and kept motivating her to move move move while Daddy has already gone up the hill waiting for us.

There was a traffic jam while we were going down the hill as the path was narrow, steep and winding. Luckily the weather was good enough and that day was considered to have lesser ppl compared to the other days. My mum said if you come during weekends, huh… Memang people mountain people sea (人山人海) as you couldn’t hardly move at all =.= So, be wise, try to climb during weekdays instead of weekends.

After taking bath at home, my family and I went to Ming Kok to have Dim Sum. Overall, the Dim Sum were quite nice but I quite disliked the desserts. There were longan jelly, gui ling kou, sagu manisan & the one with orange with it, I had forgotten what it called. These desserts were really moderate lor and were not really tasty. Plus, the taste was exactly the same from the tins but it cost much to have them in the restaurant.

After a few hours, Mum and I went to Nadra’s house to have lunch again. They served us rendang, sheep meat, veggies and rice which was cooked by Nadra. I kept eating the rendang till finish the whole plate. lolz.

30.09.08 (one)

Last day of Sep is a special day for me. Why? Let me start from beginning.

My dream to Gunung Dato has again accomplished. At first I invited my Chan Wa friends, but everyone ffk at the very very last minute. Anyhow, I did not feel any hard feelings as I have used to it already. Even they didn go, me and another girl friend were going.

To feel more secure, I randomly called up one of my ex-classmate during midnight. To my surprise, he didn even ask me where to climb, he said he was free and HE WAS IN. Wow, that's cool man. That's the spirit that I kept searching but not those "SEE FIRST AH, DUNNO O, NOT SURE O, WHO GOT GO FIRST, HE/SHE GOT GO ANOT?, HE DIDN GO O, SO I DON'T WANT TO GO, bla bla bla". No doubt, Malaysians are like that.

I shall not crap on that. OK, Gunung Dato located in Rembau. I drove everyone there early in the morning and it was my first time to go there. I thought Raya would have many cars around, anyhow, that bright morning, there were fewer cars on the road.

When we reached Rembau, I took the wrong junction by turning right. We stopped by to ask for direction. Rupa-rupanya, we went to yan wang lu. I just went on and turn out from another way =.=Personally, I feel this person was damn creepy for me as his expression was somehow scary >.<

The officer was not in cos of Raya lol.. Hence, we were exempted from paying the entrance fee. Besides, we were the ONLY GROUP to be there. Syoknya.

My friend and I love taking pics. He was worst than me as whenever there was a nice spot, he would stop us to have a GROUP pics. SWT!

We so childish till use mosquito repellent to burn the lintah that we saw by using lighter. Haha...

I wanna ask all of you, why I always talk things will make ppl laugh like mad till ask me to shut up. Am I really that funny? Haha..

Somemore, when they saw the hugh rocks which lead to the peak, they were damn scared. C'mon, the ladders were so stabil, don't worry much. I know once you stepped the wrong step, you might end up to DEATH!

Do you know why my head suddenly disappear from the view? This was not because I was freak out but I was laughing LIKE MAD that time because we were ejeking one of my friends who was still at the peak doing some THINGGY. I just can't wait till I step on the ground to laugh. Haha...

There were 2 stages of ladders to climb. At first, there were only one of my friends and I would like to proceed to the PEAK. They were all damn scared.

After we pursuade them, everyone of us managed to reach the damn cooling peak. I liked the scenery alot. Definitely it was much more beautiful than the peak in Angsi n Nuang.

Ok, another weird part was once they saw me climb to another rock at the peak, they quickly told me to stop...

"Wei, wei, wei... Don't go up there, it was dangerous".
Lol... Of course I have inspected the situation only dare to go up. The stone was solid and the surface was flat and wide, few people sleep there also can. Haha....
Later I would post up the lame video recorded by my friend. In the end, one of them said, "you see you see, the fellow went to top of the world" (something lidat la).

I really hope that I can stay at the peak long long as the wind was strong and I love nature.

These were all the words that my friends said to me.
"Hey, are you nuts?"
"Now I only know that petai was a crazy girl."

"Oh gosh, you are so damn brave."

"你今天吃错药啊?"

etc.........

If you know me, I am a person who love nature alot. I dare to risk myself to explore the wonder of nature and stand or sleep at a cliff or dangerous position just to have a view or take pics. That's me =)
Haha.. That's the perfect spot for putting the camera. This was a so-call cave which was underneath the peak.

Ok, stop saying about that, we really have a nice laugh all the way we ascend and descend the mountain.

Tell you something, this was the COOLEST climbing trip I ever had. Why do I say so? This was because I really laughed LIKE MAD all the way. s haha... Anyhow, everyone happy I am satisfied. I am willing to be the joker or the kuli.

Somemore, I laughed till cry on the way back while I was driving. I just can't controlled myself because It was damn funny.
My friend was pretending "berak-ing".

Besides, This team was the most cooperate team I ever had. We played sweepers and orang parang game. That's mean ppl who are strong lead the way, another guys walked at the back. I jaga one girl. The other jaga the weak guy, so on and so forth. Besides, we were very care to each other One of the guy even willing to use his hand to become TONGKAK to lead the girl down the hill as this was her first experience but she has a good stamina tough. So touching and really damn GENTLEMAN.After descended from the peak, we have some snacks at there too. Something very damn darn funny thinggy happen. We really have a great laugh.

When we reached at the camp site, we headed to the waterfall. Well, there were ppl at the downstream and some more ppl were using sabun to wash their clothes. WTF, hello, do you know you all are polluting the water?

Hence, we decided to go upstream to play. Time didn not allow us to play too long. After awhile, it started to drizzle. We quickly went to my car. By then, it was heavy rain. All in all, we were IN TIME =)

After drove out from the freaking rural area, we intended to have dinner at Seremban. But then, I have to rush to the other function. Thus, we stopped by at the pekan to buy some drink. Girls were waiting in the car. Once they went in, they handed us a almost empty 100 plus bottle. LOL... Then suddenly one papan of PETAI appeared. Oh gosh, really zadao.

Did I mention that my nickname when I was in Primary was PETAI? They even called me petai along the journey. I felt nice as it let me recalled back my primary sch life =) Swt dao bao. After that, suddenly another bottle of 100 plus appeared in front of us. Haha...

All in all, this gunung is way more easy to climb compared to others that I have climbed. I shall seek for a more challenging one next time =) Just wait and see.

There are lots more of pics. If I put all here, I mai made it as a photo album webpage. lol..
Erm... most probably I might upload in facebook or PICASA

Well, I know I would not have part 1, 2, 3 for birthday celebration, but then I have many parts for my outdoor activities cos I really lovin it.
