BLUE Mountain Trip (Budget)

Lemme skip 3 days of journey in Sydney before going to Blue Mountain. Will come back to it when the rest has done blogging.

Ever hear about the famous BLUE mountain in Sydney? I always wanted to go there because the word BLUE has attracted my attention. I was curious to know how blue it could be. So, let’s see ^^

If you are planning to have a budgeted trip to Blue Mountain, why not consider taking public transport (train) instead of hiring a tour guide? Trust me, you could be a tour guide too.

We reached Central @the city around 7.30am and bought a return ticket for only $15.60 per adult which stop at Katoomba station (Blue Mountain Line).

This is what you could be ended up with (approx 1 hour and 30 minutes journey)

The view/sceneries along the journey was fantastic and beautiful. We could see lots of mountains, nice houses, and greenery forest.

Once you have reached at the Katoomba train station, don’t forget to pee first. When you came out from the train station, you could see a few shops offering blue mountain packages/bus trip. Highly recommended to take the packages from the shop beside the crowded shop (sorry not good at remembering the shop name) – anyway, you would know what I mean once you were there.

The shop offered cheaper tourist packages and unlimited bus ride for only $15 (student price -Bring your ID card).

The legend story – THE THREE SISTERS

First of all, we have SKYWAY ==> RAILWAY ==> WALKWAY ==> CABLEWAY.

The all-in-one fare is much cheaper & faster if you pre-bought at the shop that I mentioned earlier.

2 of the three sisters. Their naked expression looked kinda scary though.

Here is the story that I heard from the tour guide. Once upon a time, there were 3 sisters and their dad has a powerful stick. Suddenly, a devil appeared and wanted to eat the 3 sisters who claimed it could make the devil more powerful/live forever. So, in order to protect the 3 sisters, their dad turned the 3 sisters into stones before the devil could eat them lively. The devil got angry and wanna kill the dad badly. Although the dad managed to escape, but he had dropped his magic stick while running. Since then, the stick has not be found by anyone. The 3 sisters had to become stone forever.

The story is rather ambiguous – it was different from what the net said. Correct me if I am wrong.

RAILWAY – it has been claimed to be the steepest railway in the world.

Frankly speaking, it was scary at the first few seconds because the railway was really steepy as like you were falling forward without having proper gripping. But it just lasted for a short period of time (2 mins?).

Walking around the forest was awesome. There are 3 pathways to choose from. One is 15mins, 1 hour, the last one is 1 and half hours trekking if not mistaken. We favored the 2nd option but ended up taking the last option as we were lost in nowhere >< But the good thing was we heard a bird singing in a high pitch voice. That was lovely :)

Meanwhile, we managed to find a hut beside a small waterfall to have brunch/lunch. In order to save budget, I frantically called some of them the day before the trip to bring some bread, jams/nutella, biscuits and snacks. It worked out well :)

Don’t starve your little tummy just because you don’t want to fork out money on some expansive food. So, why not just bring them?

The kids nowadays are ADORABLEEEEEEEE

After that, we walked around a lovely town called LEURA. There were lots of shops selling miniature souvenirs, barber, cake shops, etc. What a lovely town.

If you have insufficient time to visit all the places in Blue Mountain, no panic, you still can sight seeing from the bus.

We reached city around 8pm and had dinner together.

That’s all for now.

Small tips:

No matter how beautiful the sceneries are, how fun the place would be, if you don’t have great companions to go with. Needless to say, you lose everything.

I am so glad to have a bunch of great old friends + new friends to go with. Can’t help laughing throughout the journey. Love you guys xoxo
