On our 4th day of Cairns trip, (will be blogging about my 3rd day on the next post), we went white water rafting. We woke up early in the morning to prepare our delicate breakfast. Sadly, the driver who supposed to come at 6.30am came at 7.30am. All of us were waiting restlessly with a tiring soul. However, when it came to adventurous sport, instantly we were fully awake when the fun get started.
It was drizzling when we were on our way to Tully river which situated near Townsville (approximately 2 hours drive from Cairns city). Water level might rise at a higher point since it was still raining. By luck, the rain stopped when we were there ready to take up the challenge.
I wore my own swimwear instead of their warm wetsuit. Hence, once I get wet, a sudden chill awaken me. My friends and I were divided into 2 teams/crafts. My craft’s leader called Jessie. He was handsome, muscular and had good leadership skill. Under his patience supervision and guidance, we weren’t falling from the craft like what some other craft members did. It might disastrous if one fell as the current was strong with many sharp and rough rocks all over the place.
I was sitting at the back of the craft which required much strength to restrain myself from flying off from the craft. There was one time my teeth hit my mate’s helmet with a strong force. It was freaking painful!
Jessie was a fun and sociable guy to get along. He talked much with us to avoid boredom or quietness when we were rafting on a peaceful pace. Along the rafting experience, much of the forest was destroyed by the flash flood that hit the place not long ago. It was kinda sad by just looking at the dull, black trees which looked like sad ashes.
There were a few time our craft was almost turn over. Luckily with the help of Jessie’s strength and guidance, we managed to pass through the difficulties. It was quite fun though especially when Jessie wanted one of my friends and me to sit at the front tip of the craft with our legs jutting out. That was one of my awesome moment! The feeling was like riding a roller coaster by just holding tight on the ropes. phewww!
Those pictures I chose above were my favorite. I enjoyed looking at them especially on everyone’s natural expression. It was priceless! Truly a great first experience I had on white water rafting. Would definitely want to do again in the future. How about the Gua tempurung one in Perak? haha
The blogger feels utterly tired. things can be done slowly when one’s mind is conscience and alert. Let go the feelings, just be yourself without thinking too much. Isn’t it beautiful?
