After a few more years, or a decade or so, we or our future generation might not be able to see the “ancient” style of food selling. I myself used to buy food/drinks from them as depicted from the pic below as an example. Or, they were people actually riding bicycle with whole loads of junk food and cold drinks attached to the bicycle, shouting “food&drink for sale”at the neighborhood. When I was at home in this Summer, I couldn’t hear that familiar voice anymore. I wonder where is she now? no more junk foods for sale where I could just walk out from my comfort home in few seconds.
Someone said we should adapt the changes towards a more modern world. I partly agree but still, if this kind of culture doesn’t exist anymore, our future generation would just learn from pictures, books or nowadays we like to go to those commercialized restaurants such as Pappa Roti, Kopitiam, etc which serve food that are quite similar to those selling on the road side or from the old coffee shops.
Personally, I like to “simply” eat. Well, my simply doesn’t mean junk foods. It means food that could be delicious but it is served at either at the road side or in an old coffee house. Normally, we could see old folks who are the waiters/waitresses who work in the old coffee house. Seeing them getting aged, and wondering would their kids follow their footsteps?
Some food is just simply delicious. If you ask me where to dine, I would say let’s eat in “mamak” style. Cincai but yummy!
